Game Drives (Jeep safaris)

Games Drives into the national park give a great opportunity to spot wildlife, and are something that you should not miss.

Corbett is divided into several tourism zones, each of which have separate entry gates for wildlife safari. Some of the better known and more popular zones are Dhikala, Bijrani, Dhela and Jhirna. Other than this, there are also other zones like Durgadevi, Garjia, Mohan and Phato. We are happy to guide you on which zone to visit based on your interest, wildlife sighting trends and availability. If booked in advance, we ensure that you have the services of a really good naturalist and driver for your game drives.

There are two kinds of safari experiences you could choose to opt for:

Morning/afternoon safaris

  • You can stay at Tanhau or any other property located near the national park and go for morning or/and afternoon safaris

  • These safaris have a fixed duration of 4 hours and the timings keep changing across the seasons

  • There are limited safari slots available, so safaris have to be booked in advance. If you are keen on going for a safari, please check with us regarding availability at the time of enquiring itself to avoid disappointment later. Bookings for safaris typically open about 45 days in advance

  • Please note that Tanhau is located quite far from some of the safari gates, so if you would like to do multiple safaris, our location may not be convenient

Night Stay inside the park

  • Corbett National Park is the only well known national park in India that offers the opportunity to stay inside overnight. Spending one or two nights in one of the Forest Rest houses (FRHs) inside the park is an experience that is unique, and one we recommend in addition to your stay at Tanhau. The FRHs are basic in infrastructure but reasonably clean

  • However, there is limited availability of night stays and huge demand, therefore it can be very difficult to get a booking for the same, especially for Dhikala. Bookings for night stays open about 45-50 days in advance and are sold out within a couple of minutes. Safaris are included automatically along with your night stay

  • If you are keen on a night stay, you would need to decide at least 2 months in advance of the booking date
